M.SC NURSING

Duration

The total duration of M.Sc. Nursing program is 2 year.

Admission Criteria
A. Candidate should have minimum educational qualification of Basic B.Sc. Nursing/B.Sc. Nursing (Hon)/Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree from an institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council New Delhi and from Madhya Pradesh Medical Science University Jabalpur or any other University accepted as equivalent to it.
B. Candidates should have minimum 55 % marks in aggregate in qualifying examination, 5% relaxation of marks is given for ST/SC candidates.
Candidate should have minimum 1 year of working experience after Basic B.Sc. Nursing/ B.Sc. Nursing (Hon) in a hospital/teaching institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council, (School/College of Nursing, MPW/ANM Training Centre,) Or Community Health Centre.
Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing candidates must have 1 year of experience prior or after Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing degree in a hospital/teaching institution recognized by Indian Nursing Council, (School/College of Nursing, MPW/ANM Training Centre,) Or Community Health Centre.
Candidate should have registration as a Registered Nurse and Registered Midwife,( In lieu of RM for male candidate) from any State Nursing Council and his/her registration in duly renewed.

As per as guidelines of Indian Nursing Council, Delhi.

  • Application form in original of current year.
  • Attested copy of senior secondary certificate (10+2) or old Higher Secondary School certificate (10+1), Separate birth certificate issued by competent authority such as magistrate etc. incase date of birth is not mentioned in school marksheet.
  • Attested copies of all mark list of B.Sc Nursing examination (all Four years/all semester) copy of transcript in this regard will not be entertained.
  • Attested true copy of B.Sc. Nursing degree.
  • Attested copy of RN, RM (in lieu of RM for male) duly renewed.
  • Attested copies of experience certificates.
  • Course completion/college leaving certificate.
  • Migration certificate (if applicable) original.
  • Relieving letter from previous institution.
  • Income certificate (if applicable).
  • Domicile certificate.
  • PAN Card, Aadhar Card, Samagra ID.
  • Adhaar Card of parents.
  • Fitness certificate.
  • Address proof.
  • Certificate from sponsoring authority, if applicable (as per format given along with the form)
  • Six passport size photos (one to be affixed on application form and two on the admission ticket).
  • Two stamp size photographs.
  • Two affix postal stamp of Rs.20/- on each self-addressed envelope of size 11X23.
  • Schedule Caste /Schedule tribe certificate from competent authority, if applicable (District magistrate / Additional district magistrate / Collector / Deputy / Commissioner / Deputy Collector / Ist class stipendiary magistrate / Sub divisional magistrate / Taluka magistrate.
  • Address proof.
  • Soft copies of all documents including photos.
  • Note

    1. Student is required to submit all original documents if selected, at the time of admission which will be returned after University verification.

    2. Students and parents will be responsible and liable for admission cancellation If produce false documents.

Eligibility from university

Candidates before seeking admission shall obtain eligibility certificate from University by the remitting prescribed fee and form, Admission will be provisional till University issues eligibility certificate. College will not be responsible if University rejects form.

  • NOTE: Same optional subject will be allotted to all student of one batch.

Branch II - Child Health Nursing.

Branch III - Obstetrical and Gynecological Nursing.

Branch IV -Community Health Nursing.

Branch V -Psychiatric Nursing.

Candidate can choose any one branch of their study. Candidate who has chosen Medical Surgical Branch can choose any one optional subject or the college can take decisions according to availability of clinical area. Right is reserved with the college authority in allotting specialization and optimal subjects, however allotment of branch will be done as per the experience in related clinical area. Branches of specializations may be changed or withdrawn as per instruction of Indian Nursing Council, New Delhi, student cannot make any claim in this regard.

Instruction for examination
  • Minimum pass marks shall be 50% in each of the theory and practical exam separately.
  • Candidate who fails in internal assessment is not eligible to appear in University examination.
  • Internal marks will be based on unit test, theoretical activities, records and reports of educational activities, practical activities, assignments, logbook, day-to-day performance, absenteeism etc. and result of pre university examination.
  • Candidates has to pass in internal or external exam separately in each theory and practical exam. If a candidate fails in either theory or practical paper he/she has to reappear for both the exam theory and practical.
  • All Practical Examination will be held in respective clinical areas.
  • A candidate is accorded with five (5) marks grace if she/he fails in main examination and only one (1) mark in supplementary examination. No distribution of grace marks can be done among subjects.
  • Maximum number of attempts per subject is (3) inclusive of first attempt. The maximum period to complete the course successfully must not exceed four (4) years from the date of admission.
Provision of for supplementary examination
  • If a candidate fails in one subject he / she will be given chance to appear in mid-term supplementary examination which is to be held in August / September month or as per as university schedule.
  • No candidate is allowed to appear in M.Sc. Nursing II year examination unless the candidate has passed all subjects of the first year examination. However, candidate may be allowed to study the course of M.Sc. Nursing II year.
  • If candidate fails in more than one subject she/he has to reappear in all theory and practical examinations.
Attendance

No candidate shall be permitted to appear in examination to any part of exam until he/she completes 80% attendance in theory and 100% attendance in practical (clinical) irrespective of any kind of absence. Absence from college/clinical without prior notice will not be considered as leave and students are required to make up those days.

Guidelines for submission of desertation

The candidates are required to work on dissertation in the field of their specialty. The schedule of proposal presentation and subsequent presentations will be decided by research committee of college.

Submission of dissertation in university

Candidate is required to submit dissertation three months before the final examination of M.Sc. Nursing final year for evaluation and certification. The number of pages of dissertation should have minimum 100 pages and maximum 200 pages, this does not include annexures. Candidates are required to submit seven copies of dissertation.

Evaluation of dissertation

Evaluation of dissertation will be done by the examiner prior to viva voce. Duration of viva voce should be of 30 minutes per student. The viva voce should be organized prior or after practical examination.

Resubmission of disserattion
  • Modalities for award of class
  • 50% pass in each of the theory and practical separately
  • 50 - 59% second division
  • 60 to 74% first division
  • 75% and above is distinction.
Eligibility for award of master degree

The candidate will be awarded the master’s degree in nursing when he/she successfully completed M.Sc. Nursing first year and second year Examination including clearance of dissertation.

Vacation

The head of the institution (principal) shall declare four (4) weeks’ vacation in an academic year according to academic calendar (master plan) of the institution. Vacation can be given for data collection or any other educational activity/workshop as per the order of principal.

Educational activities

All students are required to participate in educational activities time to time organized by college. Students are compulsory required to participate in local/state/national/ workshop/seminar/conference or other educational function. Students are also compulsory required to organize workshop/seminar/conference/CNE etc. as a part of their study, Student have to make their own financial arrangement for those activities.

Transportation

Transportation will be provided only to those places where undergraduate (B.Sc. N) program is conducted. To other places students will bear the expenses make their own financial arrangement for those activities.

Commencement of course

Commencement of course is first week of August every year.
